Andy Larson

Interim Executive Director

Andy Larson is the Interim Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County.  Larson played a pivotal role in the inception and steady growth of the organization since his hiring in October of 2007.  He came to us from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Omaha. He has nearly 20 years in the field of Youth Development. 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, Andy has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Club’s staff, programs, expansion and execution of its mission. He oversees all areas of the organization including: club operations, staff development, community partnerships, resource development, finances, and communications.

The Omaha, Nebraska native is an Alumnus of the University of North Carolina @ Pembroke where he received his Bachelors in Health & Recreation while lettering four years with the Varsity Baseball Team.

Larson is married and has three children.

Amanda Garner-Swihart

Resource Development Director

Amanda Garner works to fulfill the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County through Resource Development. She began as a volunteer at the club in 2010 and served as a member of the board of directors prior to joining the staff. Garner-Swihart has spent 15 years in the the nonprofit sector in various roles.

A native to Lincoln, Nebraska, Garner-Swihart grew up in Northeast Lincoln. She graduated with a degree in Social Work from Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Brent Docter

Unit Director

Brent Docter is the Unit Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County.  Docter began his work with BGCLL in January of 2008 as a Program Specialist and was promoted to the full-time position of Unit Director in October of 2008.   Primary function:  Directs the club-wide operations of a broad range of programs, (such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education), with a broad oversight of program activities.  Plans, develops, oversees implementation and supervises programs and program staff and performs related administrative duties.

Docter received his Bachelor’s Degree in Fitness & Sports Management from Doane College.

The Firth, Nebraska native currently resides in Lincoln.

Suzi Stout

Program Director

Suzi Stout is the Program Director & Community Coordinator for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County.  Stout began her work with BGCLL in September of 2008 as a Program Specialist and was promoted to the full-time positions of Community Coordinator/Program Director in December of 2011.  In her current position, Stout works closely with LPS’s Community Learning Center Program and Park Middle School teachers and administration.

Stout is a product of Broadwater, Nebraska and received her Associates Degree in Food Service/Hospitality and her Bachelors in Marketing Management from Bellevue University.

With her two daughters, Stout resides in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Sara Gist

Youth Development Professional

Sara Gist joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County staff in August of 2011 as a Youth Development Professional. Gist also serves as a Substitute Teacher for the Lincoln Public Schools.

The Bennet, Nebraska native advises the Performing Arts Club, Mind Craft Club and Girls Club.

Gist earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University of Idaho.

Gist is married and resides in Lincoln.

Dakota Glasson

Youth Development Professional

Dakota Glasson began her work as a Youth Development Professional with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in January of 2012.

Before employment with the Boys & Girls Club, Glasson was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts that met weekly at the club. Currently, Glasson advises the Torch Club, Girls Club and primarily works in the Club’s Games room.

The Stillwater, Oklahoma Native is majoring in Family Science and a Minoring in Psychology at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Gavin Salee

Youth Development Professional

Gavin Salee, joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County staff as a Youth Development Professional in September of 2008. Gavin is a native of Tacoma, Washington.

Salee coordinates the Younger Members summer programs at the Boys & Girls Club and serves as the advisor for the Lego Robotics and Adventure Club.

Currently Salee is pursuing his Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies at UNL and is a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard.

Casey Hefner

Youth Development Professional

Chester, South Dakota native Casey Hefner, started working as a Youth Development Professional with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in November, 2011. Hefner plays a key role in the planning and facilitation of the club’s Sports/Fitness & Recreation programs.

Hefner is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Pro Golf Management at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Becca Stout

Youth Development Professional

Lincoln native Becca Stout, joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County staff as a Youth Development Professional in May of 2011.

Stout coordinates the Health Career Club at the Boys & Girls Club and serves as the advisor for Billiards Club. She also serves as a Younger Member Staff during the Summer Program.

Currently Stout is pursuing her Bachelor’s in Surgical Technology at SCC.

Crysta Chalupa

Youth Development Professional

Crysta Chalupa started with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in November of 2010 as a Youth Development Professional.

The Hastings, Nebraska native primarily works with the Health & Lifeskills programs by advising the Girls Club and coordinating the club’s dinner program. Chalupa also runs the club’s Art program.

Currently, Chalupa is pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Exercise & Health Sciences at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Cordara Thompson

Youth Development Professional

Cordara Thompson joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster staff as a Youth Development Professional in May of 2010.

Thompson coordinates the Sports, Fitness & Recreation programs at the Boys & Girls Club and serves as the advisor for the Championship Sports League.

Currently Thompson is pursuing his Bachelor’s in Accounting at Doane College.

Thompson is married with a son.

Joana Torres

Youth Development Professional

Joana Torres came to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County as a Youth Development Professional in June of 2012.

The Lincoln, Nebraska native works primarily in the Club’s Games room and leads the Anime Club.

Torres is an Engineering Major at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Kyle Francis-Thomas

Power Hour, Homework Instructor

Kyle Francis-Thomas began his work as a Power Hour, Homework Instructor with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in August of 2012.

Currently, Francis-Thomas is a 7th Grade Math Teacher at Park Middle School. Francis-Thomas, a native of Trinidad & Tobango, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Concordia College and his Master’s from University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Francis-Thomas is raising his two daughters.

Jennie Murphy

Power Hour, Homework Instructor

Jennie Murphy began her work as a Power Hour, Homework Instructor with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in August of 2012.

Murphy came to the club from Park Middle School where she is currently the Team Leader for the 6th Grade Silver Team and a Language Arts & Health Teacher. This Superior, Nebraska native received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska Kearney.

Murphy is raising two daughters and one son.

Chad Geiger

Power Hour, Homework Instructor

Chad Geiger joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County staff in August, 2011 as a Power Hour Instructor and Morning Program Coordinator.

After years of teaching in the Omaha Metro area, Geiger has spent the last two teaching 6th Grade Math & Science at Park Middle School. He earned his Bachelor’s at the University of Nebraska Omaha while lettering on the Football team. Geiger has also been honored with Master Degree’s in Curriculum & Instruction as well as Historical Studies at Doane College and Nebraska Wesleyan respectively.

Geiger is a Milford, Nebraska native and is married with one son.

Mark Holland

Power Hour, Homework Instructor

Mark Holland began his work as a Power Hour, Homework Instructor with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in August of 2012.

Currently, Holland is a 6th Grade Math & Social Studies Teacher at Park Middle School. Holland, a Texas native received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and his Master’s in Teaching History from Nebraska Wesleyan.

Holland is married and has one son.

Katie Soto

Power Hour, Homework Instructor

Grand Island, Nebraska native Katie Soto began her work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in August, 2012 as a Power Hour, Homework Instructor.

Soto came to the club from Park Middle School where she is a 6th Grade Math & Science teacher. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and followed that up with her Master’s in Middle Level Mathematics from UNL also.

Soto is married and has one daughter.
