Trivia Night Raises More Than $75,000
Lincoln, NE, November 12th, 2019 – Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln surpasses $75,000 goal for annual Trivia Night event to support high-impact afterschool programs. Michelle Birkel, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County, received a $10,000 check from Jeffrey Dwerlkotte, a local freight driver for UPS, July 12 at Park Middle School.
Through the UPS Foundation’s Global Volunteer Month Program, employees can select nonprofit organizations to receive the grant, then 14 organizations are randomly chosen to receive the $10,000 grant. This year, the Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County was chosen by Dwerlkotte to be his organization of choice to receive the donation, and the UPS Foundation randomly chose the club to receive the grant.

Summer Programs off to a Good Start for the Boys & Girls Club but Support Still Needed
The Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County is off to a great start this summer,” according to Michelle Birkel, Executive Director. “We are only two weeks into our summer programs and we have already had to limit enrollment for new members. With over 230 youth enrolled at both the Park Middle School and North Star locations we are now full, which is a great challenge to have.

311 is set to headline the Lincoln on the Streets Concert Series on Centennial Mall on June 30. Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County is the charity partner of a portion of funds raised through the concert. Alpha Kappa Alpha & Community Crops establish Community Garden for Boys & Girls Club
Our club helps connect our members to a caring community. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Community Crops and local residents has established a new community garden for our members to learn more about fresh produce and ways to use it in meals and recipes. Youth of the Year Alex Torres speaks at United Way of Lincoln-Lancaster County Kickoff & Lincoln Board of Education
Alex spoke to an audience of over 500 members of the corporate and nonprofit communities at the kickoff event for the 2016 campaign. Click here to read the Lincoln Journal Star article about the event.

The Barnes Group build Bicycles for Club members
The Barnes Group includes Cost Cutters and Supercuts Hair Salons in the Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota areas. At their annual gala, they assembled 10 bicyles which were then given to Boys & Girls Clubs Members. Click here to view KLKN-TV coverage of the event.

The Viking Foundation of Lincoln provided a grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County to fund CareerLaunch programming. Ground-breaking for Expanded Facilities – April 25, 2016
